Beezus Needs Surgery! Please Help!
2020 has been an incredible challenge for so many, and unfortunately, it has now come for my beloved canine companion, Beezus Bazuli.
All of my loved ones know that Beezus has been the absolute light of my life since she rescued me 9 years ago back when I lived in Los Angeles, and she continues to rescue me on a daily basis.
About a month ago, Beezus missed her footing when trying to jump onto her favorite couch and immediately started limping severely in her left hind leg. After some back-and-forths to our primary vet, we were referred to a canine orthopeditc specialist who confirmed the worst: Beezus has torn her ACL (or CCL in doggos) in her left hind leg, the CCL is frayed and on its way out in the right hind leg, and luxating patella (dislocated knee sockets) in both.
The level of arthritis that is accruing in both legs suggests that the injuries have been around for longer than we realized, so the specialist is recommending a surgical procedure called Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) first on her left hind leg, and possible a second on her right depending on the level of degradation in her ligaments.
Owen and I are both doing everything we can to come up with the money for the first surgery (estimated between $4,200 - $4,800) and -- shocker -- pet insurance doesn't cover pre-existing conditions, either. There is about a six-month window before a lack of surgical intervention could really devastate her health and functioning.
We know how many are struggling in these truly trying times, not only financially like Owen and I, but any support you could provide us to help our beautiful angel would be a true holiday miracle, even if it's just pennies, well wishes, or a quick prayer.
I know how much joy Beezus has brought so many of my friends and loved ones throughout the years, so please, if you can, help my fur baby live out as many of the golden years as possible she has left without any pain and discomfort.
