UPDATE JANUARY 2026:
Unfortunately he has a bone infection now, he started limping but was unable to put weight on his leg. He was feeling feverish, and the leg was warm too. I brought him to the vet, and he got diagnosed with a bone infection and he has to take enzymes because of his liver function. We did radiology, bloodwork, injections for pain, anti-inflammatories, and take home oral antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and pain medicine.
I am asking again for help! The initial two surgeries are all paid for and I don't owe anything anymore, however due to having to spend $3000 on repairs to my vehicle I am in a pickle again.
I am owing $1200 to my mom, she let me use her credit card. I'm hoping there's no more issues for this guy. He's had a rough go at it. I feel like if something happens again it may result in amputation.
ORIGINAL POST
My dog had an accident, he was running full speed down a hill and his back end hit a tree. As you can see his leg severely fractured. He will require extensive surgery and it will be very expensive.
Update: I found a vet a few hours away that will perform the surgery for a few thousand cheaper. My original quote was $12000-$15550 and now I'm looking at around $8050 with the overnight stay, IV fluids, sedation, pain meds, catheter, bloodwork and diagnostic imaging. I have paid $1800 and I still need to pay the rest upon surgery completion tomorrow. (Apr 3, 2025) I will have to borrow the money. I was concerned I'd have to euthanize him, or he could have had an amputation.
