BEEPUBLIC Re-opening

Donation protected

I never thought I’d be writing this. But, I do believe that transparency is important for our loved community in DUMBO, Brooklyn.

BEEPUBLIC opened its doors in September 2020. And though our hive has been buzzing in unchartered territory as a small business operating in the midst of a global pandemic, we've managed to establish greater relationships with our customers, employees, partners, and community.

More recently, on the evening of May 28th, my former friend, roommate, and employee, John C., entered BEEPUBLIC in the middle of the night without permission and purposefully removed vital equipment from our premises, in an effort to close our doors permanently after parting ways with our business. In further attacks on our business, he has attempted to keep our doors closed by way of changing store locks, disconnecting waterlines, and disconnecting electrical power - causing spoilage of all inventory and inability to operate as needed.

Due to these unforeseen circumstances, we have had to close our shop until further notice.

BEEPUBLIC was a concept that started to come to life over a cup of coffee. I sought out to introduce a modern-day cup o' joe that strived for global bee preservation through measurable environmental, social, and fiscal sustainability, to a neighborhood filled with so much history and artistry. I aimed to do this by continuously pushing the boundaries of standard food service, building socially responsible supply chain partnerships, and implementing sustainable operating practices.

The business model was comprised of sourcing organic and responsible ingredients, creating made-to-order vegan and vegetarian-based meals, and strictly using environmentally conscious packaging.

It took one million — maybe a trillion — phone calls, emails, and tastings to find our teams and partners who would work alongside our mission and commitment to social responsibility - especially while trying to open our shop in the middle of a city-wide shutdown and global pandemic. In fact, it almost didn’t happen at all because of it.  Yet, despite these circumstances, this project that started as a small idea served over 25,000 cups, prepared over 3,000 sustainable meals, diverted nearly 1 ton (2000 lbs.) of food waste, established strong local partnerships, and employed 10+ people, within our first 8 months.

With your support, BEEPUBLIC can purchase new equipment, replenish inventory, recover from the loss of revenue and legal fees, and re-open our doors to our employees and community - as we did once bee-fore.

Thank you and we look forward to serving you again.
