Hello kind people, fellow cat owners, cat lovers, friends and family.

I (Lori-Claire McGowan) am starting this GoFundMe for a very special and much loved cat named BEEP. And to raise awareness on the importance to keep your kitties indoors. Beep is my son Tate's cat, and beloved part of our family. Beep is in need of a very important surgery. He has a severely broken tail, and sadly needs to have it amputated. The fracture/break is between the Ca2-Ca3 Caulal (tail) vertabre. (at the base)

The surgery will cost upwards of $3000 plus checkups, more meds, and needed treatment for proper healing & recovery.

He has lost all motor skills, feeling, and blood flow to his tail, causing it to flop down and even drag a bit because of its long length. Beep is not yet 3yrs old, and can go on to live a long, happy life with a bob tail. But he needs this surgery asap.

HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?

To be honest, we are not exactly sure!!??

But, We have some very likely theories. . .

Beep had gone out onto my balcony, as do my own cats. Although it's highly discouraged, Beep decided to hop down from it. (only 4ft up), to play in the gardens and grassy courtyard right in view of here, We left the door open for him to come in through the night, but he didn't. By the next day, we became concerned. We did a search around the area, calling for him, we made posts on different Facebook groups, other means of social media and spread the word around the community. I put up a reward for his safe return and we checked the website and phoned the Sarnia Humane Society daily. Time kept passing but, we didn't give up! Then one day (13 gone) Tate and Evan (his brother) were coming back together. They were talking and laughing pretty loudly, when Beep appeared, He must have heard them and came out of hiding to see them.

It was amazing! There he was, meowing out to them!! I took a pic of the happy reunio, as we were so glad he was home

We posted the picture, along with a great big "Thank-you!, to everyone" that sent us possible sightings, gave us tips and especially for all the kind messages of hope and prayers for his return.

At first, he was obviously traumatized from the event, but went straight to his food and water which was a good sign. It wasn't until the next night I noticed that his tail was not just low from stress, but it was completely flopping down. "That can't be a good sign" I thought instantly He would have to go to Urgent care Veterinarian Hospital. There, Tate got the tough news that his tail is severely broken and must be amputated.

The fracture/Brake is between the ca2-3 caudul (tail) vertabrae. Almost at the very top of his tail. This type of fracture is caused by some type of serious trauma.

There is one that strikes us as the most probable! "The tail-pull fracture"

1. He could have been hit or run over by a vehicle. But, there is a large courtyard just below and in front of my balcony. It's unlikely he would go over 100 m through a cement parkinglot, to reach the road. Unless. . .

2. He was either chased or attacked by a large dog. But, he has no other injuries or tuffs of fur missing that you will see if he has had a fight with a dog or a cat.

3. A fall from a good height. But, my balcony is only a small jump for a cat

AND, THE UNTHINKABLE BUT VERY LIKELY 4. Its a "tail-pull" injury. This happens when his tail has been pulled with great force by someone very cruel and/or sick!

He has definitely been through some traumatic event to cause him to be gone for so long, (most likely) fear to leave a hiding spot he found, bunkered down until he felt safe enough to leave it.

The cats are mostly too scared to ever leave the comfort and safety of the patio The past 6 m, Beep has lived in Wyoming with Tate and goes outside. But, lately has been here, because, in June, Tate had broke his ankle, and my 1 floor apartment is easier than his apartment with his bedroom in the basement. Prior to his accident, Tate had been out of work, and living off savings, but actively seeking new employment. Bad timing I guess. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to give him the all money, as I am still not yet ready to return to work, after a long bout of ilnesses. What I can do is to continue to care for him, with love and tenderness

Not only will the procedure alone cost approx $3000, but, our regular vet will need to do Diagnostic Imaging like an X-ray or possible CT Scan or MRI that will show the extent of damage to the soft tissue. So, for just now, Beep is on some medications, resting and getting TLC ❤️Grooming has become quite a challenge also, so we help him stay nice and clean

I genuinely hope that you can find it in your heart (and wallet) to help Beep

a donation of any amount possible, helps. If not a share would be amazing He is such a sweet, big lug of a kitty and has so many more years left to enjoy life. If we were to raise funds for beep to get the surgery, anything that may be left over, will be split evenly between Sarnia District Humain Society and Lambton Cat Rescue. I personally have donated to these charities myself, THEY ARE GREAT!!

I have always been charitable in a few different ways, whether it's a cash donation, giving to the food bank or helping friends and/or peers in need of a hand, or a place to stay. In fact, there is likely someone reading this, that knows just what I'm talking about! *Wink *wink

So I am definitely no hypocrite

I enjoy doing it, and have never wanted or needed to ask for anything in return. BUT, I AM ASKING NOW .. Pease, Please, Help our beautiful BEEP have the surgery and treatment he desperately needs and much deserves, he is very sweet and

has so much life left to live as a happy, silly, sucky and well loved bobtailed kitty.
