Help Us Transform Lives: Educational Beekeeping Training for First Responders and Veterans

About me:

My name is Lydia. Many of my clients know me as Phoenix. I offer services that help initiate beautiful souls into embodying deep transformation and healing through the power of words and sound healing therapy services that are held in monthly group settings, community events, and private 1:1 sessions. I also fundraise for like minded organizations, volunteer, vend at festivals, and offer high quality beeswax meditation candles from nature. I am a dedicated Beekeeper that loves all things that natures teaches and a current member of MCBA, DCBeekeepers and MSBA.

Last year I visited "Mission Beelieve" located in Westminister, Maryland, a non-profit organization and sat with Monica who started the program along with her son which helps to educate first responders and veterans about Beekeeping. Their story and mission touched my heart and also hit home as I personally have soon to retire military family members that I feel can benefit from this great community and program that continues to flourish with a little extra help. I choose the amount of $24,000 to raise because this the year of 2024 and we are looking to make a big impact and give support to the collective in anyway we can.

Update: On May 18, 2024, Mission Beelieve marked a significant milestone with the grand opening of their therapeutic bee house, an innovative haven designed specifically for veterans and first responders. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was a joyous occasion for founders, supporters, partners, and community members, all gathered to celebrate this remarkable initiative. Their newest initiative/project is to construct an Honey House, that houses extraction equipment for honey harvesting. Funds raised from this fundraiser will also go towards helping with the construction of their Honey House.

About Mission Beelieve:

Mission Beelieve provides beekeeping education for Veterans and First Responders.

Their mission is to support the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of veterans and first responders through the therapeutic and enriching practice of beekeeping. By offering a peaceful and grounding environment for personal growth and connection with nature, through the management of their colonies. They aim to empower and heal those who have served our country and help them transition to a successful and fulfilling civilian life.

They created the foundation with hands-on workshops and seminars, to help veterans/first responders begin to feel some peace, learn a new trade and connect with nature and community while embracing the therapeutic and vocational aspects of beekeeping.

How funds will be used:

Beekeeping is more than just tending to hives; it's a transformative experience. For our brave First Responders and Veterans, this program offers therapeutic benefits, providing a serene escape while fostering a sense of purpose. Beekeeping instills a sense of responsibility, teamwork, and accomplishment, empowering our heroes to overcome challenges both within and outside the hive.
