Meet Miguel. He's a kind, soft spoken 19-year-old kid
who grew up in extreme poverty in northern Ecuador.
Last summer he was in a horrible motorcycle accident,
leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. In a town that
is built around agriculture this is a nightmare for an aspiring farmer.
I first met him when he was five years old
when I was a Peace Corps volunteer in the
community. I go back every year to visit my
farm and I cannot imagine how difficult this must
for a young man like this to have his world turned upside down.
Right now he's bedridden and living in a single room
with a dirt floor sleeping next to his entire extended family.
While they are incredibly loving and supportive,
Miguel needs privacy and his own space to
start the long and difficult rehabilitation process.
Our goal is to build him his own bedroom and
bathroom. We'll install windows and a skylight so he
see the outside world and the stars at night.
In addition, if we our successful and raise more
than the stated goal, the rest will be used for
medical supplies and installing internet for Miguel.
Thank you for putting yourself in Miguel’s
shoes and for your donation.
