Hi friends, neighbors and family. My name is Debra Schreiber and live in Boyle Park area. I have been stuck in bed for over 2 weeks and will have another 4+ weeks before I hopefully get the okay to start do a small amount of weight bearing. I took a terrible fall on Dec. 26 and fractured my tibia and knee, as well as bruised ribs and hit my head. My orthopedic doc says absolutely no weight bearing or the fracture could displace further and it is automatic surgery. After this fracture heals, I get the pleasure of a bilateral knee replacement. That being said, I realize I am a lot luckier than a lot of folks these days. However, due to three different autoimmune diseases, I have been unable to work and now my incredible husband and breadwinner is stuck taking time off from restaurant work to care for me. My prescriptions alone are over $1000 a month as I have to start my deductible over the first of the year, our rent has to be paid, and all the typical things that have to be taken care of.

I have seen these GoFundMe sights before, and donated to many, but I NEVER thought I would be asking for help myself. It makes me feel positively terrible. Just know I would never ask for a handout unless I wasn't positively desperate. I ask, for folks who can lend a hand, to do only what they are comfortable with. I can only hope that I can pay it forward when I am able!
