Two weeks ago, a routine mammogram identified breast cancer, and Amy is scheduled for a full mastectomy next week. Thankfully, her employer health insurance covers a portion of the medical costs but the rest is up to her, including any procedures and tests the insurance company flat out doesn't cover. The bills are starting to pile up and she hasn't even had surgery yet. Her annual maximum out of pocket is $7000. These expenses combined with the cut in pay she’ll receive on medical leave are putting their family in financial distress. Anything you can contribute will help them through this difficult time.
