Beautiful Bec needs Help for her Hips!
My name is Bec, I'm 34, married with four children.
I have a connective tissue disorder; Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) as well as Psoriatic Arthritis and Fibromyalgia. EDS causes many of my joints to dislocate with simple movements. The last 18 months has seen a deterioration in my body, and I now live with chronic pain everyday. With the deterioration, my pelvis has become grossly 'unstable' and I need the use of a walking stick to get around as it's too painful and difficult to walk without.
To improve my pain and walking ability, I have been offered treatment of Prolotherapy to stabilise the Sacroiliac joints. This is an injection-based treatment, that shows promising results for repairs without resorting to surgery like spinal fusion.
Unfortunately, this treatment is not Medicare or private health funded, and will cost us $2000 to have it done - per session. It starts as a course of 3 treatments, 6 weeks apart, and requires travel to Melbourne approximately 500km away from home. Without having the funds upfront for the initial 3 treatments, we can't book in for the procedures with the specialist.
At this stage I've exhausted all other options for treatments and pain relief - so until I can get the prolotherapy underway, my condition will continue to deteriorate. I don't like asking for help (just ask Ben!) but right now we really need your support.
