Hello, my name is Tramaine Raphael Gray. A multidisciplinary storyteller who needs your HELP to submit my new short film, BECOMING to film festivals. The purpose of submitting to film festivals is to reach a larger audience and to assist in my artistic development as a filmmaker. Our goal is to raise 2,500 dollars to apply to over 30 film festivals like ABFF(American Black Film Festival), Sundance, Outfest and many more.
Overview of the film "BECOMING"
As Michelle Obama proclaimed, “For me, becoming isn’t about arriving somewhere or achieving a certain aim. I see it instead as forward motion, a means of evolving, a way to reach continuously toward a better self. The journey doesn’t end.” These words invigorated my spirit and hope in myself during the summer of 2020. Her words inspired me to revolutionize my perspective on my journey toward happiness, success, and love. Allowing me to break free from the reality I thought I was bound to and dream beyond the mold- just like our main character, Shawn. Within this film, we trek through cinematic rituals of grace, hope and brotherhood. Following the lives of two brothers, Shawn and Rashad, both embarking and searching for their journey of becoming. This body of work is inspired by my personal relationship with my older brother which reminded me that I am not alone on my journey. How we as humanity, especially as black men and women no matter their status or sexuality, are forever in motion yearning for true happiness and freedom.
With Michelle Obama’s words close to my heart, I hope you all join us on this journey of becoming while we share this much-needed humane conversation with the world. Any amount helps, no matter how big or small. I'm extremely grateful for any contribution you can provide to support. Also please check out some stills from our film below that give a glimpse into the world of BECOMING. If you can't donate at this time, please share this GoFundMe fundraiser to broaden our outreach.
