Becoming a Cultural Practitioner of Curanderismo

My name is Mika (they/them pronouns). I am a Paraguayan-American queer & genderqueer person of color residing on stolen Ohlone land in what is currently known as Oakland, California.

My life has been a divinely guided and protected spiritual journey that more recently in the last year and a half led me to walk with the medicine of curanderismo. While in training to become a therapist, the path of curanderismo has been the spiritual compliment and community that has carried me into depth, expansion, and Source through connection with my ancestors and Spirit guides, and our ancestral ways of healing at large.

I am beyond humbled, grateful, awe-inspired, and excited to declare the opportunity to pursue an apprenticeship through my Maestres has arrived. For those of you who know me, you may know asking for help and support in general is not something that comes easily to me, and certainly not for financial support. But today I am aware that this opportunity and these gifts I've been given to share in this life are community-based and community-holding. So today, I decide to offer an opportunity to the community I hold, connect, heal, build, and expand with: will you hold and support me in a way that makes sense for you, so that I may in turn hold and support you?

This donation would sustain my apprenticeship fees through two years of trainings. If you have any more specific questions, I'm happy to answer as best I can!

Mi nombre es Mika (elles/ellos pronombres). Soy una persona Paraguayo-estadounidense de comunidades Queer y Nonbinarie que reside en tierras robadas de Ohlone en lo que actualmente se conoce como Oakland, California.

Mi vida ha sido un camino espiritual divinamente guiado y protegido que más recientemente en el último año y medio me llevó a caminar con la medicina del curanderismo. El camino del curanderismo ha sido el cumplido espiritual y la comunidad que me ha llevado a la profundidad, la expansión y la Fuente a través de la conexión con mis ancestros y guías espirituales, y nuestras formas de curacion ancestral en general.

Estoy más que humilde, agradecide, inspirade y emocionade de declarar que ha llegado la oportunidad de seguir un aprendizaje a través de mis Maestres. Para aquellos de ustedes que me conocen, es posible que sepan que pedir ayuda y apoyo en general no es algo que me resulte fácil, y ciertamente no con un apoyo financiero. Pero hoy soy consciente de que esta oportunidad y estos dones que se me han dado para compartir en esta vida se basan en la comunidad y se llevan a cabo en la comunidad. Así que hoy, decido ofrecer una oportunidad a la comunidad en mi vida, pasado presente y futuro: ¿me apoyarás de una manera que tenga sentido para ti, para que yo a su vez pueda apoyarte?
