BECOME Network is taking a small group of young adults to Uganda this May!

BECOME is a young adult network of Jesus followers cultivating difference makers. Founded in 2016, BECOME Network is a 501c(3) faith based non-profit out of Dallas, Texas. The team of four from BECOME will be serving with the Pastors Discipleship Network, an organization that was established in 2008 that is equipping pastors and strengthening the African church. PDN offers training in theology, business, youth pastor training, and women empowerment. During the past nine years, PDN has successfully trained and equipped over 4,000 pastors in East Africa – providing quality theological education by gifted facilitators, securing and delivering high-quality ministry resources to African church leaders, effectively following up with pastors after training, and building networks for pastors across East Africa to facilitate accountability and fellowship. Trip Goals & Activities
Business Training Conference
We are hosting a 2-day business training conference for 150+ pastors and spouses who will travel from across East Africa to Kampala, the capital of Uganda. We will cover topics such as Media & Marketing in Ministry, Budgeting 101, and facilitate a business plan case competition. This “train-the trainer” approach can have a huge positive impact on communities and will allow pastors to become economically self-sustainable, support their families and break the cycle of poverty by encouraging group-based microfinance initiatives and entrepreneurship within their communities.
Evangelism Training and Outreach
We will provide training to church leaders and young adults on the fundamentals about sharing the faith, discuss techniques on testimony sharing and role play various scenarios within the African context. Upon completion of the training, we will disperse in teams and share the gospel. All this is happening in the Kireka township: a primarily Muslim, un-reached, highly populated and impoverished community of Uganda.
Children’s Vacation Bible School
In the same township of Kireka, we will have some fun activities for children and provide a safe environment for them to learn about Jesus. Many of these children do not attend school and there is no sponsorship program, youth empowerment project or sports ministry present in the area.
Our hope and desire is that we can serve the people of Africa and make an impact that will last well beyond the time we are in Uganda. We pray that both BECOME and PDN would be strengthened and encouraged through this trip. Making a trip like this will have lasting significance in our lives. We pray that God will teach us more about His love, grace and provision.
How Can You Get Involved?
If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, please consider praying for us and the people of Uganda. We are each preparing for this trip and stepping out in faith that the Holy Spirit will lead us during this time. Your prayers will be very important and meaningful to us. If you want to contribute to this trip financially, we would be extremely grateful for any amount you would decide to give.
Where Your Donation Will Go
We want to bring as many necessary and useful items with us as possible to make the trip the most effective it can be. Here are some example of items we would apply donated funds to between now and April 27th:
- Printing and Laminating Cost: we plan to provide each pastor with laminated sheets of key session summaries so they can take this information back to their churches for years to come.
- Other Conference Materials: Folders, notepads, pens, dry erase markers, flash drives, other business/office items that can be used to support the conference or be “prize” items for the business plan competition
- Outreach Items: Bibles, New Testaments, Gospel Tracts or other Christian material for new believers; publications that encourage "next steps" for new Christians, or "How to read the Bible" pamphlets; items like this would be very helpful and much easier to pack.
- Vacation Bible School Materials: Soccer balls, jump ropes, frisbees, stickers, hard candy, bubbles, and gospel tracts for children.
- Excess baggage fees to bring all of these materials.
Our team expenses reach nearly $3,000 per person NOT including the above items. Your donations will go towards obtaining these items above before being applied for other team costs. Please note that all donations are tax deductible and that you will receive a receipt from PayPal Giving Fund.
We are so excited to visit the beautiful people and country of Uganda this May and see how God uses this partnership between BECOME Network and Pastors Discipleship Network.
