Become Sneaky Santa of a Refugee in 2019
My name is Kamran Najian and I am a refugee in Turkey. Last year around this time, I wrote to you on behalf of the countless LGBT refugees who were forced to escape their homes, families, and friends, and seek asylum just for being different and invited you to become a Secret Santa of a Refugee in Turkey because they are alone, depressed, and hopeless.
Our initial plan was to help 45 refugees by raising $2,250.00; however, we were able to raise $3,169.00 and have help 60 LGBT refugees in Turkey and made them happy in that holiday season.
Through IRQR volunteers in Turkey, gift cards were purchased from BIM Food Basic Market and provided to those who are in need of basic food and living expenses in cities of Denizli, Eskisehir, Manisa, Kayseri and Adana in Turkey such as grains, beans and legumes, meat, dairies, fruits and vegetables.
This holiday season, my boyfriend and I are helping IRQR and leading a group of volunteers again in order to bring hope and happiness to fellow refugees by providing them with things they need most. This year we would like to provide winter clothings.
We are able to buy a good winter jacket in Turkey between 350 to 550 Turkish Lira that will be between 60 to 95 USD.
To that end, we are asking you to become one of 60 IRQR's Secret Santa and donate $50.00. If you are able to, we welcome you to become Secret Santa for more than one refugee. While our aim is to provide assistance to specific number of refugees, we will be happy to expand that number if we have more Secret Santa candidates. Please do not forget to ask your friends and families to take part and contribute!
