Become One of Charlie's Angels

My grandson, Charlie Moore, turned 10 in July, start 5th grade in August, and was diagnosed with an inoperable malignant brain tumor September 21st. How's that for a tragic and heartbreaking turn of events? As adults, we hear about children with serious and deadly diseases all the time. Our hearts go out to them. We pray for them, and sometimes we donate to them. But it is not personal!. This is personal to our family, and an overwhelming sense of grief and sadness has completely overtaken us in a way you can't imagine unless you've gone through the experience.
Charlie is a true sweetheart who loves playing soccer, mountain biking, building with Lego's ,playing video games, hanging at the beach and he is a voracious reader. Early last summer he had his beautiful long hair cut off so he could donate it to Locks of Love. What cruel irony. He should be worried about Friday's spelling test, not, will the chemotherapy and radiation treatment hurt?"
We are three weeks into Charlie's Chemotherapy and radiation at the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford University and he is doing as well as can be expected. He has been mildly nauseous and although more tired than usual, has been able to get around some. His major symptoms continue to be the double vision and the puffiness caused by the steroids being used to handle the brain inflammation. His little body is so swollen, shaky and sore, it's beyond uncomfortable. He is getting chemotherapy that will help deal with the inflammation around the brain. Hopefully in a few weeks of more treatment, the tumor will shrink to a point where the pressure is off his eyes and his vision will improve. Please pray for him.
He goes to radiation every morning where the staff has gone way above and beyond. They made Charlie a custom Star Wars Darth Vader mask to keep his head stable during the treatment and a Star Wars countdown chart. They played a joke on his younger brother Shane telling him he had to get into protective gear to get in (see photo) to see Charlie get his radiation treatment. They are amazing!
Family is still adjusting to the day to day upheaval of splitting their lives between Stanford Hospital, Ronald McDonald House and weekends at home plus the stresses of being caregivers for a child with brain cancer. Please pray for their family for strength. Charlie's loving and devoted parents and younger brother and sister's lives have been put on hold to care for him. They need to be with him during the time of these grueling treatments.
Unfortunately, bills continue to pile up, including medical bills, mortgage payments, car payments and everyday living expenses. His parent's friends have been very supportive but Charlie's needs far exceed those angels. We've asking you to become one of charlie's Angel's. Please help him in his valiant fight against an insidious disease that affects all of us. Let the flutter of your wings send a cool breeze to cool his sweet face.
I am eternally grateful for your generosity to a young boy who just wants to be a normal kid again. God bless all of you.
