The Hive is situated in Dominican Republic in a small, coastal fishing village called Cabrera. At The Hive we learn how live more regenerative lives. To add extra life and vitality to our day, our friends and family and our whole ecosystem. International and local Dominican families cross-pollinate skills and knowledge and work on planet-focussed projects together.

We grow food, study the environment, clean beaches and rivers, plant trees, care for wildlife and meet inspiring people doing awesome, regenerative projects. We learn to self-regulate, develop skills and knowledge to share with the world and become changemakers.

When we deliberately attend to our nervous systems and learn new, more regenerative ways of doing every day things, we feel more alive, more connected, more empowered and in harmony. That ripples out into society and raises the quality of our shared human experience.

Sadly, not everyone in our community has the privilege of living regeneratively. Because they still don't have clean water to drink in their homes, they still don't have a safe space to sit and learn and they don't get to be creative and contribute because not having their basic human needs met is dysregulating.

So, we are raising funds to further improve what we offer at The Hive to include:

  • FREE DRINKING WATER
  • FREE ACCOMMODATION FOR VOLUNTEERS
  • YEAR ROUND AVAILABILTY FOR LEARNING

For this we need £60,000

WATER:
We are installing water systems so that we can provide FREE, medical grade drinking water to all who need it. To install industrial water filters and ionizers, showers and plumbing will cost £30,000. Once they are installed we will be able to serve up to two gallons per minute of health-boosting water for FREE and provide shower facilities for all who visit the Hive.

ROOFING:
We are currently closed during rainy season as our roof leaks so much! Fixing the roof using indigenous thatching techniques with cana leaves will not only make the building water-tight, but also support indigenous practices. Furthermore, it is a naturally cooling, and regeneratively produced material. Which means we don't need air conditioning and can be open all year round to do more people and planet-focussed work! This will cost just £15,000

ACCOMMODATION:
As well as an education centre, The Hive serves as a clinic for vets who care for street animals between sessions and a training facility for volunteers. Young changemakers volunteer in the community schools and at environmental projects. The beaches constantly need cleaning and the volunteers need somewhere to stay, so we are solving both issues by building beds made from recycled beach trash! And it's a seriously cool, Dominican business toboot! Now volunteers working with the community can stay somewhere safe AND the trash leaves the beaches FOREVER! Each bed costs £500 in recycled materials & £500 for mattresses & bedding = £15,000

Please donate today. And help us to regenerate our eco-system. Here's a video of the kinds of things we do at The Hive. Please help us to do even more!
