Help Jim fight Acute Myeloid Leukemia

Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Kristen, and I have started this GoFundMe for Mr. James Opdycke. We would be honored if after you read Jim's story you would do three things:

1. Please share on all of your social media profiles
2. Please invite everyone you know to click on Jim’s link and donate!
3. This Veteran is in need of help, he has helped our country, and now it is our turn to help him. Please consider donating, or take part in the Thanking a Veteran Challenge.

Who is this for and Why are we doing this?

Who is it for: JAMES OPDYCKE
Jim is a Veteran. He was in the United States Navy and the United States Airforce. He helped protect all Americans during this time. Jim was in wars and overseas for months at a time; Jim missed time away from his family and children. Now he needs help from YOU.

Why are we doing this:
At the end of August 2023, Jim and his wife, Diane, finally found out why Jim was having health issues for years. They received the diagnosis that no one wants to hear. Jim was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia or AML (click on AML for more information on the American Cancer Society site) the type of AML that Jim has is, MLL Rearrangement, which is one of the rarest and most aggressive leukemia subtypes.

Acute myeloid leukemia is a cancer that begins in the body's bone marrow, then progresses rapidly into the bloodstream, as well as other parts of the body. Jim just went through his first course of chemotherapy with Diane by his side. Next, Jim must have a bone marrow transplant, without one, he will not survive.

We are desperately trying to find a match for Jim's bone marrow transplant, but in the mean time bills are pilling up.

Jim wanted to send a message through his GoFundMe page to anyone interested in supporting him. The following is from him:

"I am humbly asking for help for my family. My family is in desperate financial straights. We are unable to pay our mortgage and bills at this time, due to my medical situation, I have not been able to work, and have not had any paychecks for an extended period of time. My Medical Team has advised that it will be at least a year before I could possibly return to work. I would be forever grateful. Thank you.

Jim Opdycke"

How the money will be used:
While Jim is at the hospital, going through testing, treatments and procedures, bills are piling up. Diane is trying her best to manage everything, but stealing from Peter to pay for Paul can only last for so long!

Whether you can donate $1, or $10, we would very much appreciate it - every $1 counts!!

Thanking a Veteran Challenge
If in these difficult times you can not donate, we understand. If you could please, in lieu of a donation, find a veteran and thank them for your freedom, and please record it and put it on ALL of your social medial profiles and link it back to this GoFundMe PRETTY PLEASE!!

***If you could also, please share this with ALL of your friends!***

Thank you in advanced for any assistance you can provide. Diane will continue to post any updates regarding Jim’s journey.
