Becky Espinoza's Journey

My sisters are my best friends, my rocks. We have been through so much. Good memories, bad memories, fights, laughs and lots of fun. Now we do this 3,000 miles apart. Most of you know how close we are, but if you don't, this is why.
Our oldest sister Becky is fighting the battle of her life. Cancer. F*ck.
Breast cancer has been so much a part of our story since we were little girls. At 12, 9 and 7, we lost our mom to this horrifying disease. Our Dad lost his wife. She was 38. He raised us alone but with so much love and support from family and friends. And here we are again. Not only is Becky an amazing sister, she is an even more amazing mother. She is a spectacular and selfless stay at home mom to two boys, Ryan and Wesson. She has dedicated her life to her boys and her love for them is unending. On top of being a rock star of a mom (and by rock star I mean she is the mom that everyone would want, that goes above and beyond the everyday, that taught them to play ball, that helps in the classroom every day, she does yard duty at the school, helps with extra activities like carnivals and holidays, the secretary of the PTO, P.E. aide, runs a program at the elementary school for volunteers and is living for her boys every second of every day. I told you! Rock star!) she is also an amazing wife to Mike. They've have been married 14 years. Now, this goes completely against my sisters grain to ask for help, so I am. About 2 months ago Becky had a biopsy and was diagnosed with Stage 2B Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Breast cancer. She will be starting chemotherapy on Monday, June 15th. She will be going to Wilmington twice a week, every two weeks for 18 weeks. Following chemotherapy she will be doing radiation 5 days a week for 6 weeks. Hormone therapy after that and somewhere in between she will have some genetic testing done. All of these appointments are approximately 40-200 miles away, one way. And on a single family military income, this can be a financial shock.
In addition to the conventional treatment, Becky wants to do everything she can to strengthen her immune system and combat the toxic side effects of chemotherapy and radiation and maintain her well being. This is accomplished with nutrition therapy (a healthy diet), supplements and vitamins, pain management and detox therapy. All of which costs a fortune and is not covered by insurance.
So first we ask to flood Becky with prayers. Prayers for her boys, her husband, our Dad and our families. Pray for her! Love and support her in anyway you can! When you think of her, let her know.
Cancer doesn't discriminate. Our family knows this all too well and Becky has a long, hard fight ahead. Her life is incredibly precious to us and while we can never imagine what she is going through and will continue to go through, we can certainly help with some of the burden. Medical costs, traveling costs and family costs.
In true Becky fashion, go home cancer, you're drunk!!!!
