Becky's Struggle Is Over, But We Need Your Help
Donation protected
We're the Mack family.
Our mom, Becky, passed away this month after surviving pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) for years. She was an accomplished quilter who donated her craft to the needy, a Blue Star Mother helping deployed military and their families, and an advocate for those struggling with PAH and those recently diagnosed. She was a pillar in her community and a champion for the less fortunate.
As some of you know, she always put on a brave face and never wanted to be a burden to anyone. After our dad passed in 2015 and her health began to decline, the harsh reality of living alone proved more than she could handle.
To help support her, Ryan moved in and brought with him Caiti, a close friend who became closer than we ever expected. Ryan & Caiti brought with them a sense of family, making the house feel more like a home. My mom was able to eat at the kitchen table with family again. They would take her to the local farmers market where they would pick out fresh produce, and drive her past the beach to the harbor for lunch. Her dependence on oxygen 24/7 kept her stuck at home, so she cherished the mobility that Ryan & Caiti provided.
What you may not realize is how much time, effort, and money went into this support. Our mom was on a very limited fixed income and her medical bills left her with very little to live on. Virtually all of her costs of living were paid out of pocket by us, and the sad truth is that this has left us financially drained.
In late 2022, disaster struck when Ryan was in a car accident that left him with multiple fractured ribs and compressed discs. And in an unrelated event, Caiti tragically passed away unexpectedly just before Christmas. Between costly medical bills, the inability to work for months, and still covering his mom's living expenses without Caiti's support, Ryan has been especially left destitute.
We are asking for your donation not only for our mom's Celebration of Life service (details below), but also to get Ryan back on his feet after such a difficult time like our mom would have wanted.
