On Sunday, October 19th, my sister, Becky Grantland, had a freak accident and broke her leg in three places. Becky woke up early in the morning and went to use the bathroom. It was still dark in the bedroom. When she walked by her makeup table, she knocked a hairspray can off, and it landed in the pathway to her bed. Having just had day surgery a few days before, she was trying to hurry back to bed and forgot about the hairspray being on the floor. She didn't see it and stepped on the can. Her foot rolled over it, and she tripped and fell. She spent two nights in the hospital. They set her leg, but unfortunately, they couldn't do surgery because her platelets are too low. She is now home awaiting another surgery date to have pins put in her leg. This is the second time her platelets have been low enough to hospitalize her. She spent a week in the hospital last month after having day surgery because her spleen was enlarged and her platelets were too low. She

is immune compromised due to autoimmune diseases.

The hospital stays and added expenses of co-pays, medications, and medical equipment are taking a toll on her family. Her husband, Scott, is self-employed. He has had to close up shop several days to be with her at the hospital during both stays.
