Becky is full of life! I am blessed to call her "sister". She would do anything for anyone, and has, and does it all in love. She has amazing friends, and is loved by many. When you meet Becky, it is obvious she is special, a treasure, a friend that everyone wants by their side. She received the actual diagnosis right before Christmas 2016 and as we all feared, her cancer returned in a new form.
Let me rewind to be beginning of her battle. The first time she was diagnosed was about 3 years ago. She was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and the treatment that would cure her could also bring on other types of cancer. Becky's spirit was ready and she beat the odds! They said she wouldn't see Christmas 2013 but instead... She was able to dance the night away at our wedding reception, watch her oldest son get married, go to her oldest nieces graduation at Texas Tech University, and go with girlfriends to Las Vegas. Let's not forget the little " BIG" things such as Dance Club!, Margarita's at Yucatan Taco Stand, Ringing in the New Year at Brookdale West Univeristy, girlfriend birthday dinners, Annual Halloween parties and numerous family/friend game nights and gatherings.
This is her second fight against cancer. This one came on very fierce and sudden. It is a fast progressing form of Lymphoma and is at stage 3. She spent several weeks in the hospital undergoing tests before the results came in. She went from her doctors appointment straight to the hospital to start chemo. She went through a week of chemo only to hear the news, no one wants to hear, the chemo was not working. Now, they had to figure out a "Plan B". She has been placed on a waiting list for for an experimental trail, and just underwent a second week of continuous chemo treatment, of a different kind, and we are hopeful this one is working.
She has been accepted for a stem cell research study. We will know more in a few weeks. This study is very costly so although she has insurance, as we all know, it doesn't cover 100% of the expenses. Also, for a great portion of this study, she must be close by to the MD Anderson emergency room. With this one stipulation, Becky will have to find temporary housing which is an added expense. I don't want her to worry about the financial side of this battle as she needs to put all her energy and effort into fighting this cancer and staying strong. Please join us and pray for healing! I know our God is bigger than this diagnosis's and any cancer!!! So the battle starts and I am claiming VICTORY!
We all ask ourselves how can we help? We are setting up this fund to let Becky know just how much she means to us and to try to take some of the burden away, we know others feel the same. Please contribute however you feel. We love you Becky! ~Kim and Doug
