Becky's Leukemia Expenses

Donation protected

A number of months ago, Becky had routine blood work performed as part of a health checkup. The results indicated something was just a little off. The nurse practitioner felt her labs needed a second look. She was referred to a Hematologist. Prior to Becky’s diagnosis, she didn't experience any significant symptoms. However, she did start noticing some mild infections-again nothing alarming just minor annoyances. Additionally, shortly before her diagnosis, Becky began to notice an increase in exhaustion. Becky has been working as a commercial fisherwoman removing invasive carp from rivers in Illinois; and if you know Becky, she's not your average gal. She's a lady that will challenge any “man’s” job with an unmatched work ethic. So, becoming easily exhausted was out of her wheelhouse. It was unusual for her to report such levels of fatigue. Lucky for her, she was scheduled to see the specialist soon. When the specialist did finally see her, he recommended a bone marrow biopsy be performed. Her bone marrow biopsy was scheduled with a bit of haste but again, nothing seemed alarming. Her biopsy was performed at 7:30 am. By 3:00 pm, she received a phone call to report back to the office as soon as possible & to bring a friend. The results revealed that Becky has Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

She was urgently admitted to a Peoria hospital. Within 24 hours she was scheduled to receive two very aggressive chemotherapy drugs. Her treatment plan includes 24/7 non stop chemotherapy, and she will receive treatment for 7 days. The plan after her chemo is to let her body recover and create new white blood cells. She then will undergo another bone biopsy to see how she responded to her initial treatment. She was told to plan on being in the hospital for a minimum of a month. With the month being the minimum, there’s a likelihood this will be a lengthy stay.

Becky needs your help. She has a tremendous road ahead, and a lot of answers are still unknown. Her recovery is going to set her back financially quite a bit. Right now, her first challenge is making it through this chemotherapy and the month-long stay in the hospital. If you are able to donate, she could use the support.
Additionally her Venmo is Birdie_Bohkay

Drop some dollars in her bank account.

I will continue to post updates. Currently, if you want to send something in the mail, she can NOT RECEIVE flowers as she is neutropenic.
