Becky’s fight against Acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Donation protected

Hi! My name is Rebecca (Becky) Carrillo. I am currently a Technology Teacher who loves teaching, used to teach 7th and 8th grade Science, loves technology, loves my campus, loves all my students I have and currently work with, I love my family, friends and love boxing on my spare time. All I want is to have my life back.
On October 18 of this year (2023) I was diagnosed with Acute lymphoblastic leukemia with a Philadelphia Chromosome. I went to my general doctor for routine bloodwork that showed a high amount of white blood cells. I thought my fatigue and pain was just being stressed. I was admitted to the hospital immediately 10/13/23 not knowing what was wrong. Being diagnosed with cancer has taught me to always listen to your body and rest when needed.
After 48 days in the hospital I was able to go home for a week. I return very soon to the hospital for more inpatient chemo. I am more sensitive than others to chemo so instead of a week in the hospital it can be more.
I have already undergone two rounds of chemo with 3 bone marrow biopsies and 4 spinal procedures since this October 2023.
I refuse to give up and will continue my chemo treatments to reach my goal of a bone marrow transplant.
It is difficult for me to ask for money or any help in general but I know all types of help is needed. I have been blessed to have many check in and support me. When I feel I can’t push through I think of everyone who continues to pray and push me one day at a time.
I continue to worry about my health. Will I be back to normal after this? Will I be able to go back to the job I love so much? I miss my students, I miss just being able to go out in public and the freedom. I want to stop flinching at needles and not worry anymore if I’m not strong enough or how tired I get. I fight everyday to recover and be stronger than ever.
With your support and help, I know I can push through more chemo, handle medical bills, medications, treatments, any financial burdens that come with dealing with cancer, funds to head out to San Antonio and have a bone marrow transplant and finally be healthy enough to be there for my husband who is on dialysis. I just want my life back.
I want to be to able to go work with all my amazing students and coworkers, have a big dinner with my family and friends, and be able to enjoy the workouts and friends again at Garcia’s House of Boxing (my home away from home).
I refuse to give up and will continue to fight and be strong.
Thank you
