Hey everyone, I’m starting this GoFund me for my mother Becky. For 2 weeks prior to coming to the hospital, Becky started feeling extreme weakness in her legs. It came to the point she couldn’t walk without assistance. Long story short, she ended up going to the doctors to get checked out. They referred her to a neurologist immediately, who then told her to go to Hartford hospital to get an MRI done because he had suspicions she had Guillain-Barre syndrome due to all the symptoms she was describing. This syndrome attacks the nerves in one’s body & potentially paralyzes you slowly. It is not curable, but it is treatable. A team of neurologists came together & confirmed she in fact does have GBS. She has done a 5 day treatment of IVIG infusions. She’s been in the hospital since April 17th & will be here for another 2-3 weeks.
They have her doing physical therapy multiple hours of the day to try to get her walking again.
With this extremely rare condition she is now taken out of work & has no income whatsoever. The money donated will go towards her car payment, some of the house bills she splits with her fiancé & whatever the health insurance does not cover from this long stay. We are asking for your help & support to help her get through this difficult journey in her life & appreciate all of you.
I will be updating her progress as often as possible. I really would love for my mom to get to go home again.
