I have been fighting Type 1 diabetes fir the last 38 years. I've been on disability for the last 10 years and I've made it work by budgeting well, working a few small jobs in order to supplement my limited income and pulling off some " creative" financing.
2016 hit me hard. It began with a broken and pinned hip and broken wrist, and then I had a minor stroke in February. My medical challenges continued when I had a mild heart attack in June and then another in August. Then in September, I developed extremely large kidney stones, causing serious problems with my kidneys which are currently functioning at 25%.
Everyone knows I'm a fighter but this has been an overwhelming number of challenges even for me. With this string of health challenges, I find myself unable to catch up financially. One of the biggest expenses that I have is the sensors for my Dexcom, a glucose monitoring device that has literally saved my life. The sensors cost over $300. Every 28 days.( the good news regarding Dexcom is that it should be covered by Medicare soon but there is no date yet.)
In addition, my out of pocket expenses continue to increase.
It is not easy to ask for help financially. I want to thank those of you who helped me with my last go fund me . Also thank you for your continued support and prayers.
