Becky Battles the Big C!

Donation protected

Our sweet mother, Rebecca, is fighting battles that a mother of 3, and wife, should never have to face.

While fighting cancer for a second time, she lost her husband suddenly just a month ago, and has been dealing with multiple and ongoing court litigation as well. Becky is such a sweet soul, who loves her children immensely.

She now really needs your help to stay in her assisted living apartment for the next few months until her finances kick in.

THE C WORD

In November of 2019 Rebecca was diagnosed with Rectal Cancer, Stage 3C. She remained positive, still giggling and smiling every chance she could get. After undergoing chemotherapy and radiation daily for months, her cancer went into remission. She is a strong woman! For over a year Becky was able to live at home comfortably with her husband David caring for her needs.

Then the cancer came back with a vengeance. In February 2021 Becky received the news that her cancer was now metastatic, and had spread all over her body. While she has not received a timeline for how long she has, it is not something that will get better, and can only be slowed down by chemotherapy.

On June 28, 2021 Becky fell several times while at home. She was having trouble walking on her own and required help getting up. After several days in the hospital she was transferred to rehabilitative care, and cancer treatment paused.

A LOSS WE DIDN’T SEE COMING

After just shy of two weeks in rehabilitative care, the unthinkable happened.

Becky’s husband, David, passed away suddenly from heart failure July 12th, 2021. After 40 years of marriage, this was devastating news. David and Becky met when they were just 19, their love rekindled later in life, and they were married.

They have three children together, Timothy, Elizabeth, and Rachael. David and Becky were also blessed with three amazing grandchildren, Grace, Lilyanna, and Quinn. Their daughters in law Sheeanna and Tracy, tag along.

WHEN IT RAINS, IT POURS

David was Becky’s partner, caregiver, and love of her life. He will be dearly missed. In David’s passing, and Becky being in the rehabilitative center, we have found that she requires much more care than we realized. Now that Becky’s cancer has progressed reducing her already disabled mobility, she requires full time around the clock care.

David worked hard their whole marriage and has pension plans set up to completely cover Becky’s care. We are now unable to access those funds until October, if we are lucky.

Several days after David passed away, false accusations of foul play in his death brought a whole new stress to Becky and the family. David had documented heart issues, and was hospitalized several times in recent years.

Because of those false accusations the medical examiner was forced to do an autopsy and toxicology report. The toxicology report is estimated to take until AT LEAST October. This has now prolonged the official death certificate, thus delaying the finances that David worked so hard to provide for Becky.

We have all also been tied up in family court litigation for months, while also planning their father’s funeral and memorial services. This has caused constant stress to Becky since the moment her husband passed away, on top of battling metastatic cancer. We are all just exhausted.

WHAT WILL YOUR HELP PROVIDE?

Your donations will ensure that Becky is able to stay in her assisted living apartment for the next couple of months until David’s pension kicks in, providing complete care for her, as long as she needs.

Knowing that her temporary and sudden, assisted living costs are provided for, during this great time of need, would be such a relief to her and her family.

Becky’s daughters Liz and Rachael, along with their wives, are able to provide for her daily needs, along with caring for their property, home, and animals. They are also working to cover any legal fees from litigation that are needed.

The only help we are asking for from you is solely for Becky to remain in the best assisted living care facility we could provide for her. Currently she is able to have her own efficiency apartment, with a private bathroom. While she is living there she receives care in the following ways:

  • Full time, constant medical care, and assistance with daily activities
  • Social activities with other residents is her favorite part of the day, she loves to play Bingo and other games with them
  • She enjoys a turtle pond with an outdoor courtyard where she can have her family to visit
  • Becky is served from a menu for 3 meals a day, in addition she has her own personal groceries in her apartment
  • Nurses and doctors check in on her multiple times during the week
  • Home health service also checks in weekly
  • This provides extra care to help with Occupational therapy, Physical therapy, and a nurse to check her colostomy bag
  • Transportation to appointments when Elizabeth or Rachael are unable to do so themselves

WHAT DO WE NEED?

As of August 21, 2021 Becky has received $3,222.04 in donations from her previous care fundraising! We are SO grateful. That money helped to keep Becky in her apartment, and comfortable for the month of August.

Now she needs your help to get her through the month of September, and into October. If we can raise $7,000.00 she will be set.

Every single penny, or share, of this fundraiser helps SO MUCH.

We appreciate everyone more than words can ever say. Becky’s breath is taken away every time she receives donations to her care. The kindness is overwhelming to us all.
