In the early morning hours of Wednesday September 9th my Cousin Becky and her family were forced to flee from their home last minute due to wildfires in the area. On their way out of the property Becky literally stopped and stomped out a spot fire with her boots at the beginning of their driveway. They drove to Mount Shasta and checked into the Best Western Inn to get away from the fires and wait. Sadly, today, September 10th it has been confirmed that the entire family just lost their home and all their belongings to the Slater fire that started near Happy Camp and made its way to portions of Gasquet, specifically Oregon Mountain Road, where their home was. Becky and Kevin recently moved their 3 children Tori age 16, Julian age 9, and Hunter age 6 up to Gasquet from Guerneville so that they would be in a safer, smaller populated area during the uncertainty of the pandemic and looming fire season. They also wanted to be closer to her parents, her brother and his family.

This is devastating news that nobody can ever be fully prepared to hear. Over the next few months their will be many things they will need help with in order to rebuild their lives that were destroyed by this fire. Immediate needs will be help financially with short term housing and accommodations; they did not have insurance to help replace any loss or temporary lodging and are currently displaced. They will need help with clothing, toiletries, basic comfort items for the children, and more. Anything you can donate to help would be so greatly appreciated and will all go towards getting this beautiful, loving, and giving family back on their feet as well as help to provide the children with some sort of normalcy amidst the chaos.
