I'm raising money for the headstone that belongs to the plot that holds my brother, step-father and mother. In 2011 my brother, Paul, passed away in a traffic accident, then later in 2013 by step father, Scott, succumbed to lung cancer. It took many years before my mother was able to afford any sort of headstone for the plot, but she was eventually able to make a down-payment on a stone.
However, in February of this year my mother, Trudy, suddenly passed away. I've been notified by the memorial company that the headstone has been repossessed as there is an outstanding balance on the headstone, of approximately $2800, plus the fee required to engrave my mother's date of passing. I find it terrible that a company can feel it to be morally acceptable to repossess a headstone from the deceased and while I'm currently in no financial position myself to afford this sort of payment, I wish for my family to be properly respected and marked at their graves.
Any donation is greatly appreciated, and the money raised will go directly to the payment, and replacement of the now removed headstone. My mother is to be buried this spring as weather has begun to warm, and I wish her to have her headstone at that time.
