We’re excited to share an important new step for our community’s youngest learners!

Our preschool is growing, and we want to give our children the best possible start — right beside the local primary school where they’ll soon continue their journey.

To make this happen, we’re raising funds to purchase and install a modular building that will become the new home for our preschool. Placing the preschool near the local school means:

✨ A smoother transition for children entering primary education

‍‍‍ Easier drop-offs and pick-ups for families

A stronger sense of community and continuity in learning

Modular buildings are a cost-effective and sustainable way to create high-quality learning spaces quickly — but we need your help to bring this dream to life.

Your donation will go directly toward:

️ Preparing the site and installing the modular building

Setting up safe, engaging classroom environment for our little ones

Providing child-friendly furnishings and outdoor play equipment

We will be able to offer longer hours; breakfast and afterschool clubs. We will be able to open everyday whereas currently we are restricted due to the facilities we use.

We will have our own outdoor space and will have the ability to do forest activities.

Here is a little bit of history about our lovely little Preschool……

Beckley Preschool was set up in 1973 by two mothers who had experienced the benefits of a playgroup in other locations and realised the need for a group in Beckley. We became a registered charity in March 1994 with a committee elected to oversee the running of the group and with paid staff being employed.

We were then renamed Beckley Preschool Playgroup in 2004 to better reflect the wide range of experiences offered to the children whilst still emphasising the aim of learning through play.

With the introduction of the Governments Early Years Education Grant in 2010 Preschool education changed dramatically with much more emphasis on professionally qualified staff and progress tracking.

Beckley was once again renamed Beckley Preschool and has continued to thrive although finance continues to be a constant challenge, with a strong reliance on fund raising events, organised by Committee, parents and other volunteers, but fortunately well supported by the village community.

We have been so lucky to have been supported by the many staff members, committee members, parents and local residents for over 50 years now!

We currently use Beckley Village Hall as our location for our provision. To continue growing and providing the best care possible for our children this is our first step towards raising funds to have a permanent space built.
