BECKHAM’S FREEDOM FUND

What we do in life echoes in eternity.
Thanks for watching our video and reading our story...

Beckham is our sweet natured, happy, loving and beautiful boy. After experiencing a healthy pregnancy we were excited to embrace our journey ahead as new parents. The day Beckham was born was unlike any other. We got to experience a deeper kind of love. It was the most magical day of our life. The following morning our world fell apart. The words from our doctor shook us to our core, leaving our hearts torn and our dreams shattered. Beckham had been diagnosed with Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum, (ACC). This means the “bridge” that connects the left hemisphere of the brain to the right did not develop. Along with ACC came a bundle of other issues - Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, (Seizures), Hydrocephalous, (fluid on the brain), Microcephaly, (small brain), Scoliosis, (curvature of the spine.) This came as a jarring shock that catapulted us into a deep sense of numbness, anguish, despair and a sense of hopelessness. We left the hospital with no resources or guidance. Beckham will never walk and with the exception of “Mum” , “Mummy”, “More”, “Me” and “Yeah” he is also unable to talk. Still to this day the doctors have no answers. They said it was one in a million that this happened.

Beckham will be forever dependant on us. His daily meals need to be mashed. He is unable to chew or feed himself due to low muscle tone which has hindered his gross and fine motor skills. We have become champion diaper, (nappy), changers as Beckham cannot be potty trained. It was our desire to grow our family and to give Beckham a brother and/or sister. After two miscarriages, (one being twins) and unsuccessful IUI, (Intra Uterus Insemination), our hopes to give Beckham a sibling have been diminished.

Who and how someone will look after Beckham once we have gone is our greatest concern.

Beckham is 100% dependent for his every need and will be 24/7 for the rest of his life.  Every donation matters. Every share of this GFM page matters.  You may be suprised at how much people want to help when given an opportunity!

We have managed incredibly well over the years. Beckham has taught us so much about life - truly! Our hearts are stronger. We will never escape the memory of the events that caused our initial heartache. We have learned to understand, accept and embrace them enough to see our situation in a positive light. Our son has shown remarkable resilience despite obstacles and numerous operations. He has touched many hearts with his contagious smiles, kisses, love and affection. His happy spirit shines on a daily basis!

We are now asking for your help.

They say it takes a village and we are hoping for an army.  Please help make a difference. Every donation matters. Our hearts hold so much love for Beckham and it’s that kind of love that helps us to stay buoyant in life. We came through rough waters and have found Beckham’s heart to drop anchor in. There we will stay.

Thank you for considering our cause and the possibility of freedom and liberation for Beckham and our family.

With sincere and grateful hearts,

Nikki, Bret & Beckham Zwier
