Rebecca Gardner Medical Bills

Rebecca Ellis Gardner is mother to four and grandmother to one. Rebecca has ran almost every day for the past twenty years and was a licensed yoga instructor. She worked to find homes for foster children in Asheville, NC.  Healthy, beautiful and positive, Rebecca never seemed to lose energy or motivation. So when her knee began to bother her, we all just figured it was "runner's knee." Her doctor sent her to physical therapy and after two months without progress, Rebecca finally got her knee scanned. And that's when the unthinkable happened: cancer. Rebecca was no longer allowed/able to walk. The cancer had nearly disintegrated her right femur bone. Any more pressure would break it. A week later, we found out that the cancer had actually begun in her lungs: lung cancer. A week after that, Rebecca was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. The pictures of Rebecca (above: Beck with her husband Geoff; below: with her sons Bentley and Bryce) were taken exactly two months before the MRI on her knee... Cancer is not predictable or reasonable or fair. Although Rebecca's life has dramatically changed through the course of a few days, she continues to bring light and laughter to everyone around her.
   Her husband, two daughters, two sons, granddaughter, son in law, parents, four siblings, three sisters in law, and brother in law, not to mention all of the friends and community members that love her- as we all try to care for the strongest person we've ever known, we continue to learn from and admire the strength and spirit of Rebecca.

This page exists for us to show our love. Money raised will go directly to Rebecca's account that will help pay for her upcoming appointments at Duke University in North Carolina. Radiation will begin immediately on her leg and in the future will be replaced.
