Beckett Lettow's Battle

In an unlikely friendship between a Packers fan and Vikings fan, Sarah and I have managed to put our football preferences aside and maintain a long-distance best-friendship for nearly a decade. From careers to breakups, moves across the country (and world!), and walking in our faith together, it truly feels like we've been through it all together. We both got married in a pandemic, and shared our pregnancy journies together this year. Sarah has cheered for my every high and cried with me in every low. It breaks my heart to be crying with her now during what should be a high.

On Christmas night, Sarah and Ian welcomed beautiful baby Beckett into this world, quickly followed by heartbreaking circumstances and he is currently fighting for his life at Children's Hospital in Denver.

During his birth, oxygen was cutoff to his brain and he was unresponsive out of the womb, known as hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy. Sarah had a mere few seconds with him before he was taken away for medical help.

Currently, he is stable but heavily dependent on medication and the ventilator. The biggest concern at this point is his heart and his oxygen saturation. His left ventricle isn’t functioning properly and they are waiting an echocardiogram to determine if the medication he is receiving for it is helping. His left lung was also collapsed but seems to be showing signs of improvement.

The purpose of this fundraiser is to help ease some of the financial stress of medical bills during this time as Beckett has a long road to recovery.

If you're here, you know Sarah and Ian and the incredible humans they are. I have never met more faithful people that truly live their lives by God. There's a good chance they have supported you in your life, whether it be celebrating your accomplishments or praying over you in hardship. Their hearts were made to serve, and it's our turn to serve them in prayers and support as they navigate this difficult journey.
