Beckett Strong! Keeping The Faith!

Hello Friends,
On Saturday May 11, the Beckett family received news that would change their lives. Cameron Beckett, (Joe and Andrea’s son) who is a Black Hawk pilot for the US Army, was on leave in Destin, Fl, and was in a terrible diving accident, which left him paralyzed from the chest down. Cameron had to have emergency surgery, where they had to replace two of his discs with implants, and there was significant damage to his spinal cord. The doctors stated that it could take up to 6 months before they would be able to tell what kind of mobility Cameron would regain. He is now at Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA, which is one of the best facilities in the nation for spinal cord injuries. Cam will be receiving daily, intense therapy for at least the next eight weeks, before he will be transferred here to PA to live back at home with Joe and Andrea in Bristol, where they will then take care of him as he continues with therapy at a local facility.
Needless to say, the last few weeks have been extremely challenging for the Beckett family, and will continue to be, but Joe and Andrea have not lost any faith and truly believe that Cameron will regain his mobility and be able to live independently. In the meantime, they have been alternating taking trips down to stay with Cameron, to make sure he is adapting to this new, and hopefully temporary lifestyle, and we, as their friends need to help them stay positive and supportive for him!
It is very costly to fly down every week, not to mention the cost of transportation to and from, food and other necessities. Neither of them receives paid time off either, so it has become difficult for them to maintain these trips. Also, as many of you know, the homes in Bristol are very narrow and not equipped to handle wheelchairs, so some modifications to their home will be needed for when Cameron arrives in a few months. The Army does help with some of the costs, but not all. They are exploring some of these options, but getting through the red tape, and in time, has been difficult.
I am setting up this GoFundMe to not only get them help, so that they can maintain these trips and help Cameron recover, but also because so many of you that have heard the news wanted to help in some way. We all know Joe and Andrea to be amazing human beings, who have helped so many others in the past, and still continue to, even through their own challenges. I know times are financially tough for everyone right now, but I believe that if we all pull together, we can raise the funds needed to get all of this done, which will take such a load off of them so that they can focus 100% on Cameron’s healing.
I would also like to ask, that you keep Cameron in your daily prayers. We all have faith he will recover from this tragedy, because if you know Cameron, this kid is full of strength, focus and determination! As the old saying goes, “it takes a village”, and between all of us, this Village can do it! Please give what you can, knowing that it is appreciated with so much love and thanks.
PS: I know many of you know Andrea from the King George and often see her there, but I would just like to ask that while she is working, please do not get too extreme with emotion in front of her while she is working. We know this news is pretty shocking and of course, you are going to want to hug her and talk to her about it, but please just understand that it is hard for her to stay focused on her job when this happens, although she does appreciate your kindness so darn much!
