Hey Becca here! Recently I have been diagnosed with High-Risk Myelodysplastic Syndrome (aka MDS). This is a form of bone marrow failure. Basically, my bone marrow isn’t producing enough healthy cells. It’s very rare but not a death sentence and the doctor is really glad they caught it now. I have to eventually get a bone marrow transplant and have to start the process as soon as possible. My doctor placed a referral to the City of Hope and I have met with my doctor there and the process to get everything good to go is 2-3 months then they do the bone marrow transplant. After that, I go into a 2-3 week period of isolation. I'm going to be off work for about 6 months after that but that includes the time of complete isolation. I will have to do chemo, and potentially radiation, right before transplant in order to clear out all of my cells and make way for the new transplant cells.

Initially my family thought that we’d be able to cover all of the cost of treatment. Still, as we’ve gone on, I’ve had to undergo frequent transfusions and some unforeseen complications that have increased the amount of time off I will need and the overall cost of treatment. We have had many of you ask how you can be helping us and now there is something we need from you, possibly donating! For real though, we are going to need about $10,000 to cover everything from transportation to and from the City of Hope facility, treatments, and lodging up near the facility during the times when I have back-to-back appointments.

Now I know that sounds like a lot, but if:
