Becca's Battle Against Cancer

To anyone who's met her, Becca Boone is known as a happy, optimistic, talented photographer, wife, and mother of three young children. She has always looked for ways to serve the community, and to help others during their times of need. Unfortunately, the tables have turned, and Becca now needs our help.

Becca was diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma In Situ, High Grade Breast Cancer earlier this year, during a routine, MRI screening. Thankfully the doctors caught it early.

After several weeks of many appointments, waiting for test results, and discussions with experts, she had surgery to have the cancer removed along with a sentinel node biopsy to determine if the cancer had spread further. Becca recovered from the surgery well. Unfortunately, her pathology report showed a small mass in addition to the DCIS that did not appear on the initial scans.

The whole process of numerous scans, biopsies, tests, surgeries, determining the best course of care, and now treatments, has been drawn out over several months now, and has negatively impacted Becca's ability to work. Surgery, and the recovery period following, affected the family in many ways - particularly financially - since she was not able to work during that time. Waiting for test results, along with driving back and forth to doctors appointments at both Dartmouth and Central Vermont Medical Center to appointments has been emotionally exhausting, confusing, stressful, and has set them back signficantly on their bills and living expenses.

Being the fighter that she is, we've watched as Becca has tried her best to muscle through all of this while continuing to work to the best of her ability. She is tired. She is emotionally drained. She is overwhelmed with stress. As Becca begins radiation treatments this month, she and her family need our help. Please support her in taking time off from work to rest, and to focus on treatment and healing.

Our goal with this fundraiser is to help alleviate the burden of the family's bills and living expenses, so that Becca can focus on what really matters: getting healthy and kicking cancer's butt!
