On February 12, 2026, the Fort Worth music community lost a brilliant light. Rebecca Ann Watson, a gifted violinist and devoted educator, passed away at the age of 44 after a courageous seven-year battle with cancer.
Becca’s life was a symphony of service, humor, and heart. A graduate of TCU and a co-founder of the Fort Worth Suzuki School, Becca dedicated her career to fostering a love of music in her students. She believed that music education was about more than just notes—it was about character, attention to detail, and the joy of learning.
The Mission of the Fund
In honor of Becca’s "extraordinarily sunny" disposition and her lifelong commitment to her students, her family has requested that memorials be made to the Becca Watson Memorial Scholarship Fund.
This mission was deeply personal to Becca. Having grown up in a household where money was often tight, she knew firsthand the challenges of pursuing musical excellence on a limited budget. It was her heartfelt wish to help children access the lessons and instruments they need, ensuring that financial barriers never stand in the way of a child’s musical potential.
Your donations will go directly toward:
Providing scholarships for music students in the Fort Worth area.
Ensuring that quality music education remains accessible to children, regardless of their financial situation.
Carrying on the legacy of the school Becca helped build.
Accountability & Future Growth
We are committed to the highest standards of stewardship for these gifts. To ensure Becca’s legacy is honored properly:
Selection Process: We are developing a formal screening process for all scholarship applicants.
Oversight: A dedicated committee of teachers and parents will review applications and oversee the distribution of funds to ensure they reach those in need.
Nonprofit Status: While current donations are not yet tax deductible, we have officially begun the process of establishing a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to scholarships for Suzuki students in the Fort Worth area.
Stay Connected
While these funds are initially being collected through our business to ensure immediate availability for the scholarship program, we want every donor to be part of this journey. If you would like to receive updates on the nonprofit's progress or see how the funds are being distributed to students, please email [email redacted] to be added to our mailing list.
Becca was the first person to offer support to a friend, and she never gave up on anyone. By contributing to this fund, you are helping her continue to "never give up" on the next generation of young musicians.
Thank you for honoring her life, her faith, and her incredible impact on our community.
