UPDATE: Our project was just selected as 1 of 10 finalists to present to the UN with Project Inspire!! We are traveling to Singapore next week in the hopes of winning $25k!! I added $2300 to my goal to cover this trip! Thank you again!

Hi everyone!

Thank you so much for visiting my page. I want to share my story in the hopes of getting you as excited about the cause as I am!

I met Lindsay Yeager as she was helping me set up filming equipment and mentioned something in passing about philanthropic work in Tanzania. I have been extremely interested in visiting the country to experience the culture, wildlife, people, and help any way I could. When I asked her more about it she shared her incredible mission:

Young women miss 40 days of school each year when menstruating because they do not have the proper hygeine products to stay clean, healthy, and safe. But my concern is about even more than their health. Their absence causes them to fall behind their male counterparts or drop out of school altogether, contributing to devastating gender inequality in the villages. By teaching women how to create reusable sanitary pads, we are empowering women by enabling them to stay in school and stay healthy, hopefully helping to close the gender gap. Lindsay's pipe dream was to have women not only learn to make pads for themselves but make enough to sell them to others. The problem was they didn't have a business person on the team to teach women about entrepreneurship...

That's where I come in! I am currently assembling a basic entrepreneurship curriculum to teach the women about saving money, sales techniques relevant to their culture, and how to coach others on these ideas. In addition to me and Lindsay, we have two nursing students joining us to teach the villages about nutrition, sanitation, and health.

We are partnering with the Dare Women's Foundation, a nonprofit based in Tanzania. They rely heavily on Lindsay (and now me too!) to help spread awareness, raise funds, and volunteer time teaching the women. You can find out more about the organization here. I also think Lindsay's crowdfunding site is extremely informative!

I will be in Tanzania from mid-December to mid-January and visiting five or six villages for a few days each. I cannot wait to experience the holidays in Tanzania. I still can't believe this trip is real and I am extremely humbled and grateful to have the opportunity to do something so meaningful that I am so passionate about!

I plan to keep each of you updated on the impact you make by donating to this trip. You are helping women stay infection-free, feed their children, understand their rights, and improve their communities. We also offer a great deal of emotional support and social activities while visiting. Please let me know if you have any questions. I cannot afford to make this trip without your donations--thank you for making it possible for me!

So much love and gratitude!!
