Together for Becca- fighting brain cancer

Donation protected
Update from Hannah- yesterday Becca had her results and has been diagnosed with stage 4, terminal astrocytoma brain cancer. Extremely shit and not what we wanted to hear, but we are going to give everything we can now!

She will soon begin 6 weeks of daily radiotherapy alongside chemotherapy, followed by 6 further rounds of chemotherapy. Again, it will be shit but it needs to happen so that’s what we’ll do!

Frustratingly, once she completes this treatment, her options on the NHS are very limited. The prognosis of this type of cancer is rubbish and the consultant said in an older person with underlying conditions she would’ve given them a prognosis of months however, Becca is more likely looking at years as she is young and healthy. So we’re rolling with the years!!

There will be clinical trials, private treatments, and therapies that should give her more time and a better quality of life This is where we need your help. And yes, we are now definitely asking for help because we really have no choice!

The costs of these treatments and the travel required are far, far, far beyond what Becca can manage alone. Every donation and share no matter the size, fundraising event will help Becca access care that should give her more time with her family

She is refusing to leave Eliza without a Mum. She won’t leave Tom or Willow or any of my family at 26. In her own words- “I’m far too happy for that and I’ve got far too much life to live -it’s just not going to happen!!” However, the likely hood of that happening is inevitable without private treatment!

From Becca- I can’t thank every single person enough for all the love and support you’ve thrown my way! For every share, comment, donation and fundraising. From people closest to me and to those that I don’t even know. There will never be a thank you big enough! ️

Original post- Our lovely Becca — a 26-year-old mum and dedicated teacher — has had her whole world turned upside down in just a matter of weeks.

After going to hospital with headaches, she was given devastating news later that same night: a 4cm brain tumour. Within days, Becca underwent urgent surgery at Leeds General Infirmary to remove the tumour.

We are now waiting for the results to confirm the type and grade of cancer, but her surgeon suspects a high-grade glioma. Could be better- could be worse. We just don’t know yet.

Over the next few weeks/months, Becca will begin intensive treatment, including radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

Research shows that starting oxygen therapy from the start can help other treatments work more effectively — but it’s expensive, and needs to be done multiple times a week. This first stage of her treatment could make a real difference to her fight, but unfortunately we simply cannot afford it alone.

We are keeping positive attitudes and trying to think of everything that we can to beat it. From knowing very little about brain tumours and specific types of tumours, to reading a huge amount of info, stats, studies, trials and treatment options we have discovered the NHS is limited to what gives Becca the best chance, this fundraising is about opening up additional treatment opportunities alongside chemotherapy and radiotherapy, so your donations will simply give Becca a much, much better chance at battling this. Time is of the essence and we need to raise these funds to get this treatment asap.

This will also take any financial pressure off Becca and her family and will enable them to spend quality time together. Going away together with Tom and the girls and making the most special memories.

Becca is a loving mum, a passionate teacher, and someone who has spent her life putting others first.

If you can, please donate to give Becca the best possible chance. Every contribution — no matter the size — will go directly towards her treatment, recovery and helping her create special memories with her family ❤️
