As some of you know, one of our own, Gabrielle "Gabby" Kang Smith (Class of 1997), has been battling diffuse metastatic breast cancer for quite some time, and battling quite fiercely, too.
Recently, after she shared disappointing news regarding her latest clinical trial, a couple of us began to discuss how we could show Gabby some support.
Today, she gave us the perfect option.
We reached out to Gabby. She had dreamt of having a Peloton "to maintain my muscle tone and keep my lungs healthy as long as I can, for as long as I can keep moving", but naturally didn't expect it to happen. Since neither Gabrielle nor her medical team knows how long it will be before the mets to her spine affect her movement, we would like to get a bike to her ASAP.
We considered private messaging many of you, but didn't want to miss anyone. Instead we opted for a formal Go Fund Me platform (with her permission). For now, this is not publicly shared, but rather only in the IMSA alumni page as we would like this to be a gift to Gabby from her IMSA family.
Funds raised will first go to getting Gabrielle the Peloton bike she chooses, as well as providing the monthly access fees. Anything beyond that will be her to use at her discretion for medical bills, treatments, or whatever makes moments easier for her, her husband, David, and their young son, Gideon.
Thank you for joining with us as we support Gabby.
Gabby, we have been humbled and inspired by your truly courageous fight to live your best life in every moment. We are rooting for you!
