Because that's what friends do...Help each other!

Life is not fair. It knocks us down and often we can dust ourselves off and go on but sometimes we need the help of our friends and loved ones.

Pam, Christoph and especially, Kylene need our help. Many of you know Pam. We grew up with her, we worked with her – and we loved her keeping us updated on her life, her pup, Ziggy and her daughter Kylene.
For those who do not know, Pam’s daughter, Kylene, has been in the hospital since April 27th. My heart aches for them all. I wish I had a magic wand to make it all better again. Sadly, I do not have a magic wand, I cannot fix it, but together we can help this family financially – so that they can focus on taking care of Kylene, her pups, themselves and just breath…

We cannot walk her walk for her, but we can walk together with her – because that’s what friends do.
So please help me in supporting and praying for this family. Together, we can all help.
Thank You all for your continued prayers and support. It’s what’s keeping Pam & Christoph going right now.

Below is the message that Pam posted on June 1, 2022

It started 04/27/22 as an awful headache, high blood pressure, fever, and constant vomiting had an initial diagnosis of a Non-aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (brain bleed) leading to a hospital transfer to Neuro ICU in uptown Charlotte, NC. to treat hyponutremia, vasospasms, and temporal seizures. Those of you who have been following the updates know she ultimately was diagnosed with meningo-encephalitis.

Kylene has had a high fever for every one of those 36 days. I get angry with the doctors and nurses for not fixing her fever. A fever is an easy fix, right? No way is a fever supposed to last for an entire month. Why can't they do something more to help her? But then I realized the Neurologists, Infectious Disease Doctors and team of ICU nurses are just as frustrated as I am. We all want Kylene to heal.

The Neuro team who met Kylene at the beginning of her hospital stay enjoyed her humor and her kindness. Things were heading in the right direction. Folks expected she would be discharged to home.

Unfortunately, on May 8th, Kylene became very tired and experienced increasingly worse pain and fever. This is when vasospasms, temporal seizures, and viral encephalitis, set in. Each hour that passed became a new cluster of lost physical, mental and emotional skills.

So we continue to pray and hope this level of disability is a passing thing. That she will be able to recover through rehabilitation and skilled nursing care. That she will know us and know herself again. We wait. We hope. We pray.

Meanwhile, Kylene's beloved pups are still waiting for their person to come home. They do not understand. Their longing to see her is real. They are stressed. They are depressed. They feel our stress and sadness too. Her chihuahua became very ill requiring emergency care and we feared we were losing him at the same time we feared we were losing Kylene. Fortunately, he has recovered for now. We cuddle and care for them. But the pups are still waiting and wondering when Kylene will come back home. As are we. As are we...

Love and Peace,
Pamela
