I’d like to begin by saying how deeply we appreciate you being here and caring enough to read the story of another human being — someone just like you — who needs our help.

My name is Omar Felix, and I created this campaign for Fares Khaled. When Fares and I first met, he was kind and caring from the very beginning. As our conversations grew deeper, a sense of familiarity and friendship developed between us.

Fares is a young man who was working hard for his future, like any other 19-year-old with his whole life ahead of him. He graduated from high school in the summer of 2023. He loved going to the beach and spending long nights with his friends — walking, talking, or hanging out wherever they could find a nice spot along the beautiful streets of Gaza.

He had just started his second week studying Digital Marketing at the Technical University — feeling inspired, creative, and thriving — when his world suddenly fell apart on October 7, 2023.

Life in Gaza has always been difficult, but nothing could have prepared him for what was to come. The loss and pain he has endured are beyond imagination. All infrastructure in Gaza has been destroyed — there is no way to find work, no source of income, no clean water; no streets to wander, no friends to meet, no familiarity in the ruins of once-vibrant places. A place once called home is now uncertain, hostile, and shadowed by constant risk of death and displacement.

And yet, through it all, Fares has remained standing and fighting, even without support. But even the most steadfast soul needs help.

Now, nearly two years into this ongoing devastation, the burden has become too heavy for him to carry alone. That is why he is reaching out — to us, to our shared humanity — to ask for help and to hold on to hope for a brighter future.
