On January 21, 2026, Angela’s world changed forever. She woke up to find that her husband of nearly 17 years, Doug, had peacefully passed at home and gone to his eternal resting place.
Doug was 70 years young, self‑employed, and worked tirelessly in plumbing, heating, and cooling. He was the sole provider for their household, as Angela has faced ongoing medical issues of her own. Doug worked as long as his body allowed, always determined to care for his wife and their home.
Sadly, Doug was diagnosed with lung cancer, which later spread to his stomach and brain. After being hospitalized, he was sent home on hospice so he could spend his remaining time with Angela. Doctors estimated he had three to six months, but his time was far shorter than expected. Doug came home on January 19, 2026, and just two days later, on January 21, he passed away at home.
As Doug’s health rapidly declined, he was no longer able to work as he once did, causing bills to fall behind — including their mortgage and utilities. In addition to this financial strain, Angela is currently without a car or reliable transportation, making it even more difficult for her to attend medical appointments, run essential errands, or manage day-to-day responsibilities during this time. Angela is now facing not only the heartbreak of losing her husband, but the overwhelming stress of financial uncertainty.
Doug was one of the most selfless, hardworking people you could meet. He never hesitated to help others, often reaching into his own pocket to do so — whether it meant getting someone’s heat back on, fixing plumbing for someone in need, or leaving a $15 tip on a $4 peanut butter milkshake he always ordered for Angela.
His kindness extended far beyond people. Doug was an avid animal lover, and together, he and Angela took in, cared for, and nursed countless animals — wild and domesticated, healthy and injured. One especially special story is of a tiny kitten Doug single‑handedly nursed back to health against all odds. Today, that once‑fragile kitten is fat, happy, and thriving — because of Doug.
Doug left this world earlier than he ever wanted to, with loose ends he never imagined leaving behind. He was not someone who would ever ask for help, but I know he would accept it if it meant allowing his wife to grieve without the crushing weight she now carries.
We are asking for support to help Angela during this incredibly difficult time. Funds raised will go directly toward catching up on the mortgage and utilities, with the hope of keeping her in the home she shared with her husband and preventing her from having to sell it.
Angela is currently in the process of applying for Social Security Disability so she can maintain basic necessities moving forward. Until then, we are hoping that friends, neighbors, and community members can come together to lift some of the financial burden from her shoulders.
If you are able to donate, share, or simply keep Angela in your thoughts and prayers, it would mean more than words can express. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps give her the space and peace to mourn her husband properly — without fear of losing the home they built together.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support.
