One of the nicest and hardest working people I know, Rebeca had recently began training for a trip to Augusta, GA to compete in the Ironman race there on Sept. 29, 2019. Today, while on a training ride, a person who she did not know riding in front of her unexpectedly stopped, causing her to crash, and two other riders to ride overtop of her.
In the process, her Specialized bicycle (Venge Pro) that she had invested an enormous amount of her savings in was basically destroyed (see photos). The frame is cracked in two places, wheels cracked, and a number of other broken/bent pieces. Thankfully, she somehow came away with minor injuries, and has really just been incredibly hurt by the destruction of her bicycle, one of her prized possessions.
My hope is that others can help raise money for her that she can use to purchase a new bicycle - it is impossible for me to fully explain how connected she felt to this one. For anyone who has found the calming and connective force from training, perhaps you understand how she feels, and why helping her get back on her 'clipped-in' feet is so important. I know Beca would never ask others to help her in the way I am asking for her - but what are friends and others for if not for intervening in times like these.Beca's Blog
She is a hard-working Mom of two great boys,
and going out on her own to just buy a bicycle, especially one as well-suited for an Ironman as hers, is just not something that can be done. I know she wants to compete in this Augusta Ironman race to show her boys, and herself what she is capable of, I hope you will consider donating to help her get back in the saddle.
You see read more about her journey and the connection she has built with her special, Specialized bicycle at her blog - talesfromacyclepath.com .
Thank you for your help.
