On the morning of August 4, 2020 Tropical Storm Isaias hit the Delaware area. This storm spawned a record breaking EF-1 tornado, with top wind speed of 105 mph and a 29.2 mile path of destruction, that hit and severely damaged the Moore’s Lake area. Many tree tops were shredded off and many trees uprooted.
My family has lived in our home for 3 years now and it is the very first home we have owned. Unfortunately our home was in the path of this record breaking tornado and had multiple trees fall on the house and all over the property. All of us and our pets are safe and healthy, thank goodness. The roof, AC unit, HVAC system are all severely damaged and there is likely going to be a lot of water damage due to the extensive roof damage. Water has gotten into the house and most of our belongings are still inside. We could possibly lose our daughter’s bed due to water as well as other furniture. We do have our home owner’s insurance to help cover what happened, but as we all know they will not cover everything.
Please consider donating to help my family and I replace clothing, food, and other things that are still left inside the home that will most likely be lost, as well as any expenses that our insurance may not pay for. We have lost all the food that we had in our refrigerator and both freezers due to initial loss of power and keeping it off to prevent fire or damage to the well pump. If you are not in a place to donate, our family greatly appreciates your hope, prayers and positive vibes. Please also consider sharing this page as a way to help as well.
Thank you to all our dear friends and family who have helped us already, we are truly grateful for your love and support and there are not enough words to thank you for everything ❤️
