I have a few affirmations that I swear by, and they go a little something like this:
"Listening is the loudest voice one could ever have."
"Happiness starts with self-worth."

My Inspiration

The above sayings derive from a lifetime of pain, suffering, and disappointments. But finally, I feel I have turned that all-important corner, and thankfully, I'm living a life that I'm happy with, and I'm immensely proud to share my journey with you.
So, I bet you're wondering where the concept of Beautifully Unlayered originates? Well, my name is Lisa, and it's my life story. I used to live my life to make others happy, especially men. So, I based my whole self-worth on my interactions with older men. I used them to validate my appearance, my interests, and even my decisions. Unfortunately, I held onto these toxic traits for many years. It took me a lifetime to identify my self-worth and break free of my destructive behaviors.
My freedom started when I learned that receiving self-love could only happen if I learned to love myself. I know everybody says this, but breaking free from the negative cycle of destruction made me.
Then, the concept of Beautifully Unlayered was born. This film is a comprehensive narrative from childhood to womanhood. The film takes a deep dive into topics of self-love, depression, dependency, and anxiety. I wanted to be transparent about my journey, covering everything, warts and all.
To add, I'm currently working on my MS in Mental Health and Counseling with the focus on Family, Marriage and adolescence. 

Synopsis of Beautifully Unlayered
The short film "Beautifully Unlayered" takes place in the USA. Angela has breakfast in bed, brought to her by Brandon, a handsome man with whom she had intimate relationships the night before. She is thankful for breakfast but doesn't eat much. Instead, she asks Branden to leave because she needs to go to work. He seems hurt, but Angela seems distant and uncomfortable with the interaction.
On Angela’s way to a therapy session, she talks to her sister about her romantic problems and how she wants to figure out why she is so resistant to connection. When Angela meets Dr. Peterson, her therapist, he attempts to persuade her to open up. He uses hypnotherapy, but it doesn't seem to work. After Angela leaves, she talks to her sister again; she tells her she knows therapy wouldn't work. Nevertheless, they spend the rest of the evening together.
Angela goes to work as a therapist. Her first client is Lexis, a young girl unhappy because of attachment issues. - she doesn't want her mother to go to work and leave her alone with her father, who is often angry with her. Her second client is Nicole, a teenager who likes older men, sometimes as much as ten years older than her, because they make her feel wanted. In contrast, she usually feels unattractive and undesirable. Her last client is Valerie, a woman In her late 20’s who regrets her number of abortions. Angela feels uneasy because each of the clients seem to remind her of herself.
What Stage is "Beautifully Unlayered" at?
At present, we have the screenplay but don't have the crew and the cast under contracts. They have agreed to letters of intent. We have three out of four locations under contract.

OFFICIALLY FINANCIALLY FREE.  We had to reshoot a few scenes but we are still in the last editing phase. It would be greatly appreciated if you would support my short film with any donation.


The expected timeline is as follows:
Pre-Production is already in progress.
We have scheduled the principal photographer for the second week of October 2021.
Production is due to begin at the end of the month.
We've earmarked Post-production for the second to last week of October through November 2021.
I want to turn this short film; into multiple episodes; I aim to crowdfund $9,000.
Here is a breakdown of my expenditure:
Production cost will be $10.000:
$3000 - Location costs
$3000 - Cinematographer
$600 - Sound recordist
$200 - Gripper and gaffer
$400 - Director
$800 - Casting
$2000 - Post-Production & Marketing costs.
$1200 - Travel and Accommodations
$500 - Hair and Makeup

She’s an actress who had been under the tutelage of Director/Acting Coach Reuben Yabuka from 2012-2019, Aïdia Muñez of The Actors Workshop Detroit, Acting Coach and Shiek Mahmud-Bey of 25th Framed Films. Lisa is signed with agents in the Midwest and Southeast regions.   Lisa’s acting career started in Theatre with leading roles/supporting roles in the Detroit Metro area as well as a traveling production. Lisa has experience in independent films, commercial work, and voiceovers. She also starred in a web series, “It’s So Complicated” Written/Directed/Filmed by Randy Holloway. Lisa’s latest production work was “A Raisin in the Sun,” where she played the role of Ruth Younger. Lisa Renée is now working on her first movie short as Executive Producer of “Beautifully Unlayered,” a story that is inspired by her life’s story. Lisa Renée is very passionate and dedicated to the art and is always auditioning and ready to dive into the next project.
