If you know me, you’ve almost certainly heard about or have been lucky enough to meet my special cats. We call ourselves the “Us Club” because it’s always been the three of us, facing everything together. My name is Laura and I am raising funds for my incredibly brave boy Ziggy who is currently in ICU fighting to come home to us.

Bobbi and Ziggy have been my lifeline for nearly seven years. Ziggy, especially, is the sweetest, most affectionate, gentle, and normally energetic boy.

After two days of watching what I thought was just a cold, I rushed Ziggy to the vet on Saturday morning when I noticed his breathing wasn’t right. After blood tests and an X-ray, my local vet told me I had no time to spare—Ziggy needed an oxygen chamber immediately to support his breathing, and I had to get him to SASH (Small Animal Specialist Hospital) as it was a matter of life or death.

Ziggy has now been in the ICU at SASH for the past 24 hours, cared for by their incredible vets and nurses. They have drained most of the fluid from his lungs, and he is stable but still in serious condition, recovering in an oxygen chamber. He’ll remain there until his pathology results come back so we can understand what caused this sudden decline.

I’m raising money to help cover the cost of his treatment, which is currently estimated between $7,500 and $10,000 if he’s able to come home on Monday.

This includes fluid drainage, the oxygen chamber that’s helping his lungs re-expand after being compressed by the fluid buildup, medications such as electrolytes, X-rays, and blood tests.

Ziggy has the most beautiful spirit—brave, loving, gentle—and he doesn’t deserve the battle he’s been fighting, possibly quietly for some time, but especially in these past two days. Anyone who’s met him knows his incredible ability to comfort and connect with people through his affectionate, calming energy. He deserves every bit of support we can give him right now.
