How do you learn to love yourself if you’ve never been taught how?
I’m UrFavorite’Threat, and my documentary series Beautiful Boi is my raw answer to that question. As a disabled, nonbinary artist in my 50s, I turned the camera on myself when I couldn’t find stories like mine—especially as one who could be identified as an older Black person navigating transition. What began as a personal journey uncovered universal truths about identity, survival, and the systems that fail us. The biggest lesson was, that loving someone, teaches us to love ourselves.
