Beau's Fight: Seizure Relief Needed
My name is Jami and I am lucky enough to be married to Mr. Beau Brendmoen.
My husband has been struggling with seizures for many years as a result of a brain tumor that was removed in 2013. Since the removal, he has continued to have grand mal seizures on a monthly basis, usually occurring in his sleep. The seizures take a heavy toll on his body and on his brain; sometimes he has to spend days in bed afterward. He has been doctoring at Sanford for the last 19 years and was referred to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, in 2024. We have made a total of 6 trips down to the Mayo in the last 10 months or so, with Beau staying inpatient twice for up to a week both times, along with several MRIs. He has had 2 procedures on his brain to pinpoint where the seizures are coming from. Gratefully, I have been able to be by his side during all of this.
He was recently told he is a candidate for a surgical procedure called laser ablation, which can destroy the small area of the brain that triggers seizures. The procedure has been scheduled for March 11th 2025. Beau is the strongest person I know and is ready to try anything at this point if it means he could be seizure-free. If this surgery is successful, it could significantly improve Beau's quality of life and allow him to return to doing the things he loves.
With all of this comes expenses, including hotel costs, food, and gas. We have both had to take time off from our jobs, using all of our PTO. We are hoping to raise $5,000 to help cover the costs associated with the procedure and Beau's recovery. These funds will go directly towards travel expenses, meals, bills and lost income during Beau's six-week recovery period. I will continue to work and support him through his recovery, but will be managing our bills with one income.
We have had so much support already with all of the prayers and phone calls from everyone and are so grateful for the amazing people in our lives, from our coworkers to our friends and family. Thank you so much. We will keep you updated with info as it comes!!
