Beau is Raising Funds for Top Surgery

Hi, I'm Beau.

I have been out as nonbinary since I was 18 and began transitioning as a trans man in 2020.

I've wanted top surgery for a long time, and I've been waiting years for the date and processing to get finalized this year. My surgery date is November 11th, 2022 and I have been saving and working toward the date for several months now. I am self-employed and have been setting money aside since my consult in June to be able to afford living costs and things for post-recovery as I have to take a minimum of 3 weeks off work after the 11th as mandated by my family doctor and surgeon.

The top surgery itself is covered by the government of Ontario, which I am super grateful for. However, I am also getting contouring for this surgery, which is an additional $3051.00 out of pocket. I will also set aside some backup funds to pay for dog care in case I can't walk and take care of my dog after the first week of recovery. There will also be additional medical recovery costs for gauze and Tramadol. Because I don't have any medical coverage, I will buy those supplies out of pocket and pay for a private covid test before the surgery.

I've been profoundly anxious and afraid to post this, given how many GFMs circulate, but I honestly do not have the means yet to pay out of pocket for this surgery. If I reach my goal or go over it, I will redistribute leftover funds to my friend's Black Trans Survival Fund. Even just a share or reading this means so much. My heart is full. Thank you <3
