Update 10/19/2022 10:59am: Im sad to announce that our dad passed away peacefully surrounded by family yesterday at 8:34am. We thank you all for the support. He knew what you have done before he passed and was very grateful. We love you all. There are a lot of funeral expenses, and this money will go to that. We will also use any remainder money to pay off his debts. Thank you all for your love and generous gifts.
Update 10/10/2022 12:20pm: The initial plan was to fly to Arizona on Sunday (yesterday) to go to the New Hope Unlimited cancer center. Unfortunately, we had to rush to the hospital late Saturday night, where we have been since. Not only is he experiencing liver failure, but also kidney failure. The hope is that the kidney failure is only due to dehydration (he hadn't been drinking or eating for some days) and after some time here being hydrated and taken care of, we will still be able to go to that cancer treatment center. If he does not improve, the funds we have collected here will be used to pay off the medical debt and other expenses we have accrued.
Hello family and friends,
As you are aware, my dad has been battling stage 4 colon cancer since 2021. He has been through multiple rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, and dramatically altered his diet, but the cancer has continued to grow. Four weeks ago, the Oncologist treating us informed us that the cancer growth in his Liver was to such an extent that Chemotherapy was no longer an option. He was sent home, put on hospice care, and given weeks to live. As a family, we believe that nothing is impossible with God, so we continued to look for non-chemo treatments to heal his failing liver and beat the cancer into remission. We found and have been in communication with a hospital called New Hope Unlimited.
Here's a list of the services they provide, many of which my dad requires.
He will fly into Yuma, Az. From there, he will be shuttled to their facility in San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico, 5 minutes across the border. He will be treated there for 12 days. Afterward, he will return to Yuma, AZ and come back to Houston. We will be in communication with an after-care team that will continue to support his recovery when he gets home.
The costs involved in traveling to this hospital are airplane tickets for both my mom and dad and a hotel room where they will spend two nights.
My dad cannot work at this time, making my mom the sole income producer in the house. Now that the situation has progressed, my mom's love, presence, and nursing skills are needed in the house with my dad full-time. Among the money we are raising, we are also raising money for the household bills for three months.
The $51,038 breaks down as follows:
New Hope Unlimited - $35,000
Round trip flight to facility (2 tickets) - $720
Two nights in the hotel - $318
Three months household bills - $15,000
We are asking for you to contribute to the fund and help us raise the money necessary to beat this disease. Thank you!
