Beating Osteosarcoma
Donation protected
“God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break or day.” Psalm 46:5
Cancer is a term associated with many things but understood by few. Our family would have never expected to be apart of the many that experience the entirety of the word cancer until last year. In August of 2022, Sammy Ulloa, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma of the right knee. Within days, without yet having processed her diagnosis, Sammy started chemotherapy and her journey to fight cancer began.
Sammy has always been an athlete. From soccer to cross-country and track she was always blessed with an athletic talent and excelled in every sport. She worked hard to acquire an athletic scholarship and during her senior year, 2020, was recruited by many universities. Sammy ultimately committed to Saint Mary’s College of California and competed as a division one athlete in track and cross-country. Fall of 2022 would have been Sammy’s junior year at her university but God had a different path for Sammy to lead.
Since her diagnosis, Sammy has endured multiple weeks of chemotherapy and has had limb sparing surgery to her right leg. Her journey is far from being over. With 20 weeks left of chemo, countless appointments, and physical therapy beginning soon so she can once again learn to walk.
We are grateful to our Lord that His love & mercy has strengthened Sammy through the entirety of this process and that she is still here with us today. We are sincerely grateful to everyone who has supported Sammy and our family and thank you in advance for your help.
